YAV Painting Banner

Young Adult Volunteers Painting Banner

The Young Adult Volunteer program had an information booth at the 2019 Presbyterian Youth Triennium. The YAV leadership reached out because they wanted an interactive, collaborative art project to include in their booth space. We decided to create a banner that participants could paint with acrylic paint like a big coloring page. They wanted the imagery of the banner to relate to the theme of the conference, “Here’s my Heart”, as well as speak to the mission of the YAV program. They wanted the banner to incorporate imagery of both rural and urban settings, emphasizing the importance and particularity of context. The banner had a border with space for participants to write their answer to the question, “What does it mean to love your neighbor in your context?” I hand painted the banner with black paint on a 6’x14’ canvas.
