About

About the artist, graphic designer, and visual exegete behind Lewp Studio, Rev. Lauren Wright Pittman

Lauren Wright Pittman is an artist, graphic designer, and visual exegete. As a Minister of Word & Sacrament in the PC(USA), she is uniquely positioned to approach each creative project, whether it be a visual mission statement, church rebrand, or scripture inspired painting, through the eyes of a pastor, artist, and theologian,

In her time in undergrad at Middle Tennessee State University, Lauren studied Media Design in the school of Journalism and Interactive Design in the department of Art & Design. Post undergrad, Lauren served as a Young Adult Volunteer where she worked as a wetlands advocate in the bayous and wetlands of South Louisiana.

These seemingly divergent paths converged at Columbia Theological seminary where she worked towards weaving together her passions for artistic expression, design, and Creation Care.

While pursuing an MDiv, Lauren was invigorated by the classes she took at the intersection of scripture, art, and worship. Instead of sticking tightly to the curriculum’s required exegesis papers and presentations, she began wrestling with scripture with her paint brushes, acrylic paints, metallic sharpies, and colored pencils by her side. Visual exploration offered her a holy space to ask questions, find footing in her voice, take risks, and make bold statements. Once she began this journey in visual self expression, she became determined to create spaces where others could find this freedom and sense of assuredness in their voice, whether it be in the creative process or in visual meditative practices like Visio Divina.

She is Director of Branding & a Founding Creative Partner for A Sanctified Art, a ministry providing multimedia creative resources for church leaders and spiritual seekers. She uses paint, metallic inks, linoleum carving tools, and trusty Apple pencil to image the layered complexity she experiences in scripture texts. She also helps faith communities share their vibrant stories and connect to a deeper sense of particular, communal identity through branding & design services.

Lauren lives in Knoxville, TN with her husband Chad, their son Hopper, and their pup Rumi. There you will find them hiking, kayaking up their favorite creek, or laughing with friends at table.
